Market of Choice

Din and I were recently at one of Naomi Pomeroy's Suppers, when another guest leaned across the table and said, "Are you Nancy Rommelmann?" I said, I was, and she said she knew because she reads my blog.

"What, are you famous?" asked Din, genuinely perplexed, as was I. Believe me, I don't have that many readers, and to wind up sitting across from one, who recognized me, was just... weird.

"I've been meaning to get over to Ristretto," she said, "but we're all the way up on Skyline." Which, for you non-Portlanders, is a bit of a drive just to buy coffee.

"Hi, Nancy," said another young woman last week, walking into the shop. I went through my Rolodex of customer faces, and came up blank. "Oh, I read your blog," she said, and that she hadn't been in sooner because she lives all the way in Beaverton.

And so, today, especially for blog readers and coffee fans on the west side of Portland, comes the announcement that...

BeansRISTRETTO ROASTERS COFFEE BEANS ARE NOW AVAILABLE AT MARKET OF CHOICE!

This is a gorgeous, boutiquey supermarket on the corner of SW Terwilliger and SW Taylors Ferry. For now, we're in the one store, but there are seven, and if all goes well, we'll be in those soon, too.

For the moment, they're carrying two coffees, Mexican Chiapas and Beaumont Blend Espresso. If you're in the area, please consider buying some beans, or at least mooning around the bins for a while, especially if you see a manager nearby.
